I will preface this entry by stating that the majority of my posts will contain a lot of "Whys", "How comes" and "What ifs". The purpose of this is to gain feedback from all of you in order to paint a clearer picture of who LRH is and what Dianetics and Scientology really is. Again, I am fairly neutral regarding these topics and I don't intend to offend or degrade anyone who is reading.

The first thing that I would like to address is the notion that LRH started Dianetics and Scientology strictly in order to make easy money.

As someone who has recently delved into the Foreign Exchange market, I must say that there are far easier ways to do this!

Certainly a lot of LRH's personal money and time was spent developing Dianetics and Scientology, so if these creations were made from a pure profit standpoint, I would have to say to say that these accusations don't hold water. Any new business venture is bound to lose a lot of money when it first gets off the ground, and most get rich quick schemes don't last very long. Originators of these schemes are usually caught by the authorities very quickly, or they bail out after a short period of time in order to cover their tracks.

Why would Hubbard persist in pushing his new ideas around if it wasn't initially going to make him a fast buck? Hubbard started his research back in the thirties, Dianetics was published in 1950 and Scientology came shortly afterwards.

Personally, I can't see myself trying to run a failing business for fifteen to twenty years.

So either the ideas and the tech works, or it doesn't. If it really doesn't work, then how has the movement stayed alive for so long?

Then there are the people who have been quoted in regards to the "start my own religion" statement.

Where is the proof that this statement was made? It's all hearsay as far as I'm concerned.

There are signed affidavits that swear that this statement was not made. Some say that those involved in making these sworn statements were coerced by the COS to do so .

Also, if LRH was really as talented as his bio claims to be, certainly he wouldn't have to rely on this one particular angle in order to support himself; he easily could've pursued another career.

I am just a person who has been on a quest since the age of fourteen.
